PROGRAMME

We are keenly interested to be associated with all the Programmes of Cornerstone Projects of IYA2009. Unfortunately, there is no Observatory in Bangladesh for which we are deprived of our participation in some of its vital activities. However, we are concentrating on the popularization of Astronomy through Seminars, Video Shows, Astro-Banners, Sky Camps, Astro-Fests etc. There is a big Planetarium in Dhaka with Large Format Film Projection System through which we are planning to arrange special Progarmmes to show IYA2009 Trailers. Science Museum in Dhaka has a 12 diameter Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope through which we are planning to arrange regular Sky Observation Progarmmes. We are also considering to procure about 500 Galileoscopes or similar small Telescopes for distribution to different Schools and Colleges enabling students to observe the Planets, Moons and other Celestial Objects. However, we are paying special attention for successful implementation of the following two events:

1. To arrange massive participation in the Observation of Total Solar Eclipse to be held on 22 July, 2009.

2. To avail Telescoping Sky Observation Opportunity for Minimum 200,000 people in Bangladesh during the period of IYA2009.
